Courtney Smith
Director of Learning and Content Strategy
Courtney is a passionate educator with nearly 15 years of experience in education. This Cleveland native holds a bachelor's degree in English with a minor in education from Cleveland State University and a master's in industrial and organizational psychology from Adler University.
Courtney possesses a wealth of knowledge in the field of education, working with students from infancy through adulthood. She launched her career managing local preschools and moved on to teaching in secondary classrooms and teaching English internationally in China and South Africa. To date, Courtney has worked in public, private, parochial, suburban, urban, rural, and international institutions, which has helped her build a wide breadth of knowledge regarding what it takes for educational institutions to effectively support students and move beyond the status quo.
As a mother and educational leader, Courtney has a deep affinity and value for creating safe, loving, and enriching learning environments for children. Her expertise specifically in early childhood includes social emotional development, differentiation, communication skills, fine and gross motor-skill development, and language acquisition.
Aubree Opiyo
Learning & Development Specialist
As a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Aubree brings a wealth of knowledge about early childhood education and intervention. In previous roles, she focused highly on individualizing programs for each student based on their current needs with the intent of helping them thrive in the least restrictive environment.
With a keen eye for assessment and analysis, Aubree uses data-driven decision-making to develop and implement effective behavior plans that are grounded in evidence-based strategies. She is also proficient in various assessment tools and utilizes data to track progress and make adjustments to interventions as needed. Another of Aubree's key strengths is her ability to build strong relationships with young children, their families, and other professionals.
As a new mother herself, Aubree’s priority is to help cultivate a safe and nurturing environment at The Maven School that encourages communication, building positive relationships, and endless opportunities to learn.
Aubree holds an undergraduate degree in psychology with a minor in education studies from Spelman college, a M.A. in special education and teaching from the University of Central Arkansas, and a M.Ed. M.Ed. in special education with a concentration in autism and disabilities from The University of Texas at Austin.
